Dragon Dens
Celestial

ISB - International School of Beijing

The Dragon Den is a series of three sensory rooms created within unused spaces across the elementary school.
Designed as calm environments, the rooms offer children a place to step away when the day becomes overwhelming, before returning to class.
Embedded within the existing building, the project transforms residual areas into meaningful spaces. Each room is shaped by a different landscape—Terrestrial, Aquatic, and Celestial—supporting different ways of slowing down.

Second Floor – Celestial

The celestial space is conceived as a quiet and introspective environment, inspired by the night sky. Deeper tones, soft lighting, and a central element create a sense of enclosure and stillness.

Constellation-like lighting introduces a subtle layer of orientation and imagination, while the overall atmosphere remains calm and reduced.

The space is designed to support withdrawal and rest, offering a place where children can pause and reset before returning to the shared environment of the school.

(Terrestrial)
